Welcome to the plastic surgery practice of Patrick J. Schaner. My practice philosophy is simple, I want to be the best that I can be and urge others to do the same.
“Schöne” the root of my name is the German word for “beauty.” Long before I became a physician, I began to express my creativity, precision and keen eye for beauty as an artist. I continued these artistic pursuits at the University of Pennsylvania taking several art courses and continuing work in the mediums of pen and ink, and watercolor in addition to the traditional pre-medical courses. My academic medical pursuits have become a life-long passion and have since earned me several prestigious research grants, research and teaching awards, national presentations and publications while I completed my extensive training in the areas of General Surgery, Hand Surgery and Plastic Surgery. While my academic interest in science and people lead me to a career in medicine, I have always maintained the heart and soul of an artist.
As a competitive swimmer, I was the Team captain of a prep school national championship team, and I spent my summers both coaching and teaching swimming. For me, the next best thing to achieving a personal best is to help someone else achieve their own personal goals. In addition to providing my patients with safe, sound medical advice, skilled hands and service, I view my role in their care and recovery as that of a coach. I have always possessed the unique ability to inspire, and I will insist that my patients are very active participants in their care in order to achieve the best possible results. I have made several changes in my life that have helped me to achieve great personal growth in the areas of fitness, nutrition and overall wellness; changes that I would like to share with you.
As a plastic surgeon, I have the awesome privilege of utilizing my abilities in art, medicine, and motivation to help my patients feel their best, look their best, and be their best. Let me help you be the best that you can be!
